VITAL CONVERSATIONS - THE NEW LANGUAGE OF LEADERSHIP
Judith E. Glaser,
Internationally known Leadership Consultant

To reach out next level of greatness, depends on the quality of our culture, which depends on the quality of our relationships, which depends on the quality of our conversations. Everything happens through conversation.

In this highly interactive, and insightful session, Glaser will take the audience deeper and deeper into conversations at their most fundamental level to see, feel and experience what happens when two people talk with or to each other.

While the world has agreed that “command and control” leadership is the dinosaur of the past, many people are not in agreement about what the new leadership is all about. There is a fear of the “soft” – sitting on the other side of the “hard” and many executives – both men and women – fear that giving up toughness, means letting go of results.

What is the new leadership all about? Is it about men and women? Is it about pink and blue? Is it about hard and soft, or is there another “framework” emerging that finally speaks to a “new order” of inclusion, candor and interdependence that we’ve never experienced before.

In this provocative session Glaser helps her audience understand that when we leave “command and control” we do not step into the soft and mushy. Instead, we step into “demand and desire.” Glaser creates a compelling experience of the “new leadership” and gives her audience a taste of their role in creating it.

Learn what this looks like. Learn how it empowers people to reach their next level of greatness. Learn how to turn up your dial on courage, candor and caring, and to give more of your real self in an interaction – and in a relationship. We call these dynamics Vital Conversations.

Vital Conversations are not for the meek and mild… they are for those who want to reach their next level of greatness with others. Come prepared to see yourself as a leader in a whole new light…. and come prepared to leave both challenged and validated. Learn what it means to “be a human being.”

FROM CINDERELLA TO CEO: REACHING THE PALACE OF YOUR DREAMS
Cary Broussard
, Former VP, Wyndham Hotels International and Author

To reach the highest levels in your organization or the highest level of business acumen as a business owner, you need to continually build new goals and yes, often outsmart your competition. Inspiring your staff and co-workers, maintaining a dynamic career path that rewards you professionally and personally and navigating office and industry politics are all realities on the path to success. Learning to think and act with the best qualities of a chief executive officer at any level of an organization will be a primary takeaway from time spent in Cary Broussard’s session. If you or your staff members are facing business challenges, stuck in a career rut or looking to “jump start” a new idea or project, this session, based on the age old wisdom of fairy tale lessons, will inspire the opportunity for “transformation” – which is at the core of every classic fairy tale.

After participating, you will be able to:

  1. Develop a clearer picture of how you want to transform your work life, and become more comfortable making difficult or unpopular decisions, while working in a way that elicits loyalty and support of your peers, mentors and mentees..
  2. Appreciate the value of risk-taking and being the first to recognize new ideas and the potential in people, products and services.
  3. Get a glimpse into how the “Women On Their Way” program was created and how it instigated an industry-changing phenomenon. Learn how you can apply similar tactics to your own businesses.

Barbara Rose,
CEO New Generation Partnerships; Janet Rechtman, CEO The Rechtman Consulting Group, Pat Willis, CEO Voices for Georgia; Evern Cooper, VP UPS Foundation.
Nonprofits, like all other sectors, demand highly skilled leaders and managers both as staff and board members.  They require an appreciation for the distinct value and role of non profits among government and market-based organizations.  Furthermore, they must be competent to effectively engage volunteers and donors in a value proposition that delivers altruistic returns rather than material returns.  This session is designed to help you evaluate your potential to succeed in the nonprofit world, whether as an executive or as a board member, and to define strategies to transition from one world to the other. Each member of the panel has been successful in both the nonprofit and corporate worlds and has worked directly with multiple non profits serving a variety of social causes.
PANEL ON WOMEN'S HEALTH: OSTEOPOROSIS - FIGHT BACK, LIVE STRONG SPONSORED BY PROCTER & GAMBLE
Nellie Duke,
Chair, Georgia Commission on Women, Chris Recknor, M.D. and Alison King, Ph.D.

Osteoporosis is often a silent disease until debilitating, costly fractures strike.  These fractures can occur at multiple sites across the skeleton, leading to a downward spiral in physical health and quality of life.  Women can lose the ability to walk, stand up, or dress, and fractures can lead to premature death.  In 2006, over 2 million fragility fractures occurred in the U.S., costing nearly $17 billion.  Yet, many of these fractures can be prevented by identifying individuals at risk and intervening swiftly.

In a 2004 report, "Bone Health and Osteoporosis: A Report of the Surgeon General," Dr. Richard Carmona, the U.S. Surgeon General, warned that by 2020, half of all American citizens older than 50 will be at risk for fractures from osteoporosis and low bone mass if no immediate action is taken by individuals at risk, doctors, health systems, and policymakers.  "Thirty years ago, doctors thought weak bones and osteoporosis were a natural part of aging, but today we know they are not” said Dr. Carmona. "Everyone has a role to play in improving bone health, and this report is a starting point for national action on bone health. Let's get started by taking action today in homes, health care settings, and communities across our nation."  Today's OSTEOPOROSIS FIGHT BACK LIVE STRONG session will address how individuals, communities, healthcare professionals, public and private agencies/companies/associations can proactively work together to help women keep their bones as young as they feel.
